Ezgi Kızmaz

Ezgi Kızmaz is a screenwriter- script consultant based in Turkey. She believes it’s never just a story; stories hold the power to transform both their creators and their audiences. She is passionate about female-driven narratives, often blending mystery and dramedy within culturally rich settings and psychological depth.

She earned her degree in Journalism in 2005 in Turkey. In 2006, she won first prize in the Amnesty International Writing Competition for her piece raising awareness about violence against women. In the same year, she also received first prize in the Short Film Story Competition organized by the Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival.

After receiving a Fulbright Scholarship in 2007, she moved to the United States to study Screenwriting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. During her time there, she gained hands-on industry experience as a translator at Link TV, an archive assistant at the San Francisco Film Society, and a script reader for the Global Film Initiative.

Upon returning to Turkey in 2009, Ezgi worked as a copywriter and book translator. In 2018, she joined the writers’ rooms of several TV series, including Stiletto Vendetta (Ufak Tefek Cinayetler), Love 101 (Aşk 101) for Netflix, and Glass Ceilings (Cam Tavanlar). These experiences deepened her understanding of the craft, strengthened her professional perspective, and nurtured her love for creative collaboration.

In 2023, she was selected as one of four independent writers for Netflix Turkey’s Adaptation Lab, where she developed a new series concept for the platform. She regularly participates in CenterFrame and Sundance Collab script clubs. Inspired by their collaborative atmosphere, she founded her own community , “Pazartesi” Script Club, in November 2024, aiming to make screenwriters and their work more visible while fostering dialogue among screenwriting enthusiasts. She now hosts monthly sessions with screenwriters to explore the craft of storytelling together.

Realizing she wanted to take a more active role in the script development, particularly within the international settings, Ezgi completed Script Reading for Film and TV online training at The Script Factory (UK) and Story: Advanced Structure online training at John Yorke Story (UK) in 2025.

Ezgi continues to develop film, television, and documentary projects that explore women, identity, and transformation, always with an eye for emotional truth and psychological depth.
